Visual identity and brand design created for Exile, a film project. Built to translate the emotional world of the story into a cohesive and cinematic visual language.

“When the daughter of a chieftain sees the nature & animals she dearly loves threatened by her warmongering clan, she decides to leave her home behind. On her journey, she discovers reality, regret & grief over the legacy she left behind and the future she abandoned.”

Challenge

To create a visual identity for a film that could capture both narrative depth and cinematic atmosphere across multiple touchpoints. The project needed to unify title art, typography, poster composition, custom graphics, and title sequence motion direction into one clear visual language, while staying connected to the emotional tone of the story and its themes.

Solution

A brand system shaped by the film’s emotional and symbolic world, translated through expressive typography, poster design, and a title sequence direction built around the eagle as a unifying visual element. Inspired by ink, smoke, and movement, the final direction creates a dramatic and cohesive identity that carries the story’s sense of tension, grief, and transformation across both static and motion-based assets.

Title Sequence

For the title sequence concept, I've been inspired by the story of the film itself. The eagle will be the protagonist of the entire sequence, as it is an animal that represents Mongolian culture and symbolizes strength, courage, and unity. This will serve as the unifying element between all scenes in the sequence. All graphics will be styled as a mixture of ink and smoke. The eagle will undergo a "morphing" process to bring the scenes to life, leaving a trail of this ink-like substance in its wake. The scenes will be based on key plot points of the story: the journey, the promise, and the battle.
