Personal product design project
Poko is a travel packing helper that turns trip information into a structured packing experience. Users answer a guided quiz about their destination, dates, weather, activities and packing style, then receive a personalized packing plan organized by bag, priority and prep needs.
The project combines product design, responsive UI, interaction design and handmade illustration to create a tool that feels practical, clear and approachable.
Product Challenge
Packing is not just a checklist. It changes depending on the destination, weather, trip length, activities, bag space and personal habits. The challenge was to design an experience that could respond to those variables without becoming complex or overwhelming. Poko needed to feel guided enough to be useful, but light enough to fit naturally into the pre-trip moment.
User flow
The experience starts with a short quiz that collects the most important trip context. Each answer shapes the final packing plan, helping the result feel more relevant than a generic travel list. After the quiz, users land on their personalized packing space, where they can review suggested items, explore each bag, track progress, add extras, check prep notes and access a printable version.
Packing system
The packing plan is organized around action, not just information. Items are grouped by where they belong, such as main luggage, personal bag, documents, electronics and travel-day essentials. Each section helps users understand what to pack, where to place it and what still needs attention. Packing modes, custom items and progress states make the system flexible for different travel styles.
Visual language
The visual direction balances a clean product interface with cozy handmade details. Bento-style cards, rounded layouts and readable typography give the experience structure, while the illustrations add personality and warmth. The artwork uses simple shapes, a crayon-like brush texture and small hand-made animations inspired by old cartoons, creating a softer contrast against the modern UI.
Final Experience
The result is a responsive travel tool that works both as a digital packing assistant and as a printable checklist. Poko brings together guided input, personalized recommendations, bag-based organization, gentle interactions and visual storytelling to make trip preparation feel more manageable and a little more enjoyable.
